Tithing: The Ultimate Frontier

Welcome to episode #7 of our Basic Training series. Last time we talked about communion and the time before that baptism. Today we’ll be talking about the one topic most Christians are terrified to discuss with anyone. Yes, that’s right, we’re going to be talking about evangelism… Uh I mean we’re talking about tithing.

What is it?

Malachi 1:6

6A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?

He then answers by exposing their donation of spoiled grain, wine and bread, sick and blind lambs for sacrifice….. it's a great read.

Malachi 3:8-11

"Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. "Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts."

Deuteronomy 14:23

"And you shall eat before the Lord your God, in the place where He chooses to make His name abide, the tithe of your grain and your new wine and your oil, of the firstborn of your herds and your flocks, that you may learn to fear the Lord your God always."
