Stuff About Evangelism You Probably Hadn't Considered, But Really Should.
This is why I evangelize:
I rescue people from the eternal flame. I cast them the life line of the gospel so they may escape the eternal Justice of God, and receive the gift of God's grace and love. Yeah, that’s intense right?
You may say, “Wow, that is scary. I've only been told of a God of love, not such anger and torture. My God is not like that!” I have heard that over and over again. God's Righteousness, holiness, jealousy, anger, is just as much a part of Him as His love, mercy, and compassion. Scripture says that many Christs have been preached, but the Apostle Paul says forever be cursed be the ones who preach another gospel or another Jesus. Make sure you believe in the true Christ, and the Creator of All. Jesus said we should have a healthy fear of God, even if you might say, “I haven't been told to fear God!” God's great and true love is displayed this way; while you were still sinners, Christ died for you.
Let me explain it this way: God's wrath was poured out upon Jesus during His trials, beatings, scourging, and crucifixion. The punishment for your lust, lying, gossiping, divisions, lack of forgiveness for a brother, was laid on Jesus’ back. His beatings were so bad that you could see His bones. He was not recognizable when they were done with him. How could sin be that bad? You may think you are a good person and Jesus didn't have to do that for you?
Is a good person a liar? Have you lied?
Is a good person a thief? Have you downloaded movies or music without paying for them?
Is a good person disobedient? Have you obeyed and honored your parents and those in authority over you?
Still think you are a good person? I hope not. The Bible says there are no good people, all have gone astray and become UNPROFITABLE. Does this describe you, or does the world satisfy you? Be careful! The Bible warns that friendship with the world is at enmity with God. Those who love the world and sin are enemies of God. God commands us to love them. The best way to do that is to warn them that they are in danger of the hellfire of God's judgement, and God has provided a way of escape.
The Bible says in the first chapter of the Gospel according to John, mankind is not born from above by family nor church associations, not by the will of men but by the will of God. Ephesians 2:8-9 says that salvation is a gift of God by faith, also given by God. Look to God for salvation by faith. Consider two things:
1) Trust in the sin sacrifice of Jesus as a skydiver trusts his parachute as he jumps from an aircraft 13,000 feet in the air. It is a small step, not a huge leap to fall from a plane. The skydiver knows his parachute will save him from the law of gravity, and the sinner knows Jesus will lovingly save him from the law of the ten commandments.
2) Repent. The Greek word is where we get the word metamorphosis, or how a caterpillar changes into a butterfly. Repent means to change your mind about sin. Instead of loving sin, change your mind and hate sin. Sin is not good for you. If you humble yourself and look to God as a beggar asks for bread, God will hear you if your heart is broken and humble before Him. Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God so that in due time He will lift you up.
Jesus was speaking to all Christians when He said,
“All authority in heaven and Earth have been given to Me, therefore GO into all the Earth and make disciples (not converts), baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.” Matthew 28:19-20
I you don't think this is a serious deal, consider this:
“But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 10:33
“I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.” Luke 12:4-5
What do we have to be afraid of?
Though doctrine of hell is clear and unpleasant, the fact still remains that all whose name is not written in the Lamb’s Book Of Life will be cast into eternal torment.
“And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Matthew 25:30
“And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.” Matthew 25:46
“The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb.” Revelation 14:10
“And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.” Revelation 14:11
“And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:15 “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, idolaters and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Revelation 21:8
Why? Tell a little lie=reap eternal punishment? Is that fair?
It's not the action, but who the action is against.
Kick the dog, he may bite you.
Kick your best friend, they'll be angry for a while.
Kick your spouse, you'll sleep on the couch for a while.
Kick a policeman, you spend 30 days in jail for assault of an officer of the law.
Kick the president of the United States, you'll sleep a long time in jail.
Kick Kim Jung Un, you AND your family will go to a labor camp until you are dead, AND you will likely start a nuclear war.
Like it or not, the wages of sin is death. King David committed adultery, conceived a “problem”, and then murdered a faithful friend to cover up his sin. When he was confronted with his sin by Nathaniel, he confessed he had sinned against God. God destroyed the whole world by flood because He saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth. Since sin is so horrible, we should take it seriously in our own lives, in our communities, and our country.
The reality of God's judgement is this:
"Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil." John 3:18-19
On 9/11/01, many people died in the twin towers. The jet fuel, when it burned, was so incredibly hot that it melted the support beams in the towers. Survivors just below the jet which crashed could not escape the raging fires and smoke. They hung outside the windows for some relief. Some chose to jump out of the windows to escape the heat, flames, and smoke. Being burned alive is a horrible way to die. People have been burned at the stake to bring confession many times. People will confess things they never did to escape the flames. The sad reality is this: those people who jumped to escape the flames of 9/11, jumped into the flames of eternal Justice of God, unless they were born again by God. Their only escape would’ve been to have their name written in the Lamb's book of life. How tragic is it if they had friends who are saved, and never heard a clear gospel message from them?
Did you catch that? Witnesses did not recognize the falling objects as people because it was too horrible. In a like manner, Christians refuse to think of the flaming horror awaiting the unrighteous, and have lost any sense of urgency in evangelism. So neighbors, friends, and family fall into damnation. In a court of law, if someone is able to save someone in a tragic occurrence and does not, it is called depraved indifference. Does this describe your Christian experience?
