What Must I Do To Be Saved?
This is episode #6 in our Counter punching the Counterfeit series. Over the past several weeks we’ve been talking about who Jesus is and what happens after we die, how about we talk about what we need to do about our souls?

Knife in back test: “I have a knife in my back, I only have 2min to live. What will happen after I die and what do I need to do about it?” This is my favorite way to expose false teachers who add on elements to salvation. You can be sure that if their response involves a lot of work, it probably isn’t the truth.
Luke 23:40-43
40 But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” 42 Then he said [k]to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”
43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
Ephesians 2:8-9
Acts 20:21 “I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.”
Luke 13:3
What is faith?
What is repentance?
What does it mean to repent? Isn’t it a work?
So if all we need to do is repent of our sins and trust in Christ, what does that mean?
What does it mean to repent?
It’s something granted to us, but it requires a response. Gifts are conditional upon receipt.
Our works are the result of our salvation, not the requirement!
Acts 11:18 “When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, “So then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life.”
2 Timothy 2:25 “Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth,”
Antinomianism
This is complete lawlessness, it’s what the Jews accused Paul in his ministry. The truth is, the Law is still valid, but the requirements of it have been fulfilled.
What does the law serve for us now?
Galatians 3:24 “Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith.”
James 1:22-25 “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.”
Romans 7:7 “What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? May it never be! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, “You shall not covet.” Romans 7:13 “Has then what is good become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful.”
