Morally Qualified?

This is not in any way a political endorsement, nor is it slamming President Trump. Not that endorsement or slamming really matters at this point since he already won and has been sworn in. Just so we're clear...

First of all, I'm just as tired of the Democrats whining about Trump as everyone else is. The caustic things that have been said about him make me scratch my head and wonder what exactly they mean by "Love Trumps Hate." Obviously, there must be some strange feeling of justification for their abhorrent behavior.

But there's something else I'm getting tired of rather quickly now. It's the evangelical conservatives who are on their high horses going on and on about how Donald Trump is morally unfit to be president. To that, I pose this Scripture to you to think about when you ponder why your candidate didn't win:

"But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7

You're very likely looking at all the media hype about how Donald Trump has been married several times. Or that many years ago he said some inappropriate on camera about women. Or that he uses rough and tough language to get his point across, even to the point of being flat-out mean. Alright, while those things did happen and are in fact morally reprehensible, why don't we take a minute and look at some other presidents who were touted as being "morally qualified?"

Maybe you wouldn't have voted for Kennedy, but his entire time in office he was sleeping with Marilyn Monroe. Franklin Roosevelt had a long time mistress, who his wife knew about. Warren G Harding was known to bring prostitutes into the White House (actual prostitutes, not lobbyists.) And we shant forget about the ONLY thing Bill Clinton is known for! Yet, despite their obvious character flaws, the country did just fine under their leadership.

I'm also very sure that if I followed your candidate around with a camera, quoted every stupid thing they said and made it trending news, you would probably stop thinking your guy is morally qualified. Why is that? Because if you really wanted to condemn someone, all you have to do is put their life into a grinder and grind it to fine powder. I'm sure if I did that to your life, everyone will start to write articles about how morally destitute you are. How do I know this? Because God will one day do that to every single one of us, and it will be so thorough that not a single soul will be declared morally qualified for anything, not even to live!

Perhaps instead of making a quick buck off slamming our president by writing articles declaring him unfit for office, why don't we examine our own lives with the same fine-tooth comb we're using on him? Perhaps we should be praying for him? Also, don't forget that in this country, our leaders represent us. Therefore, if you want something to change in our country, write your congressman and they have a duty to bring it to D.C. where it can reach our president.

In conclusion, give the guy a chance, or else God might not.

"Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one." Colossians 4:6
