Unconditional Love, Even When We Were Sinners. By Jim Herald.

Today, I read a story about a Christian village in Indonesia. Muslims from a neighboring village murdered and persecuted those living there. The Christians responded in love by donating $5,000 to the village of the attacking Muslims. As a result, revival broke out.

Rom 5:8 "While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Isaiah 53:10-11 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities."

We are to love like Jesus loved. Jesus, by His own will, laid down His life as a sin sacrifice to redeem us to the Father. He, who knew no sin became sin for us. Unbelievably, the Father sent His son to die. For who? For dirty rotten, reprobate, disobedient, lying, thieving, adulterous, lustful, covetous, worldly, unrepentant, prideful rebels in whom there is no redeeming qualities, but for the affection of God.

In the sermon on the mount, Jesus commanded us to LOVE our enemies, to PRAY for those who spitefully abuse us.

So after considering all what God has done, is it all that different how these Christians loved their enemies? Is it still unbelievable, or were they just being obedient to the example of Christ?
